About Brooke
From an early age, it was clear Brooke had a heart for serving people, ultimately leading her to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work. Upon completion of her undergraduate program, and with no clear vocational direction, Brooke found comfort in support roles like Executive Assistant, Office Manager and Personal Assistant.
For a better part of her personal and professional life, Brooke was perfectly content with being told what to do. Feeling like she had no voice and prone to follow, she hid behind a cheerful smile and easy going personality.
This style of relating paired with exceptional organizational skills, a heart for people, and ability to faithfully execute orders, afforded Brooke with many opportunities to succeed as an Executive Assistant in various organizational levels from small nonprofits, a social enterprise, and large corporations.
A strange request began to shake Brooke’s view of herself. After a colleague asked her to fetch a red pen, Brooke knew in her gut that she had so much more to offer the world. This epiphany opened up the door for her to begin dreaming about the possibilities and consider stepping outside her comfort zone. Around this time, Brooke was offered another Executive Assistant position serving the founder of a successful social enterprise working with women survivors of prostitution, addiction, trafficking and violence. It was here that Brooke was first exposed to the recovery community. While she initially believed and had the mindset that her kind presence in those women’s lives would impact their healing process, Brooke soon discovered how these women’s courageous recovery stories would be a catalyst for her own healing, growth, and change.
Inspired by these women, Brooke engaged in her own recovery process and was reminded once again of that red pen and began to wonder where her heart was being drawn to.
For years she resisted. Being married to a husband with big dreams and aspirations, it was easy to hide behind his passion for therapeutic work. Brooke was terrified about the possibility of finding her own voice in the therapist chair. Through her own personal work in therapy and recovery journey, she finally mustered the courage to apply to graduate school. In the fall of 2018, Brooke is excited to continue her healing, growth, and change journey by beginning her clinical training to earn a Masters in Counseling Psychology. With a robust clinical training paired with her own therapeutic recovery process, Brooke is excited to work with women and young girls particularly around addiction, body image, discovering their own voice, and helping them heal.
At Grey Sky Counseling, Brooke brings her administrative experience and organizational skills while also engaging in group facilitation, co-leading workshops and speaking at various engagements. Upon completion of her clinical training, Brooke's role will evolve as she moves into her duties as an Expedition Psychotherapist.
In the meantime, Brooke’s happy place is anywhere next to the water; be it hiking in the Cascades along the Middle Fork Snoqualmie river, toes in the sand at Cannon Beach, or walking along Lake Washington. She loves spending time with her VIPs in their heart home of the Pacific Northwest, and enjoys family bike rides, camping, and chasing glorious Seattle sunsets.
